Hi, I ‘m Sam!
I am a hairstylist in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I have been a working artist in the beauty industry for two decades, behind the chair, as an educator, and a freelancer. I spend most of my time with my husband, Brian, and I’m a cat mom to Luna. I like to grow little plants into big plants. I’m currently in my gardening era! My off days consist of elevating myself, attending spin classes and getting outside, studying energetics and other modalities, reading fiction, spending time with friends and traveling whenever possible. I’m still working on my vinyl collection and have become a camping enthusiast, who sinks into the couch in the winter with a good book or Netflix. I am certified level Reiki 1 + 2, can dig into your Human Design Chart, and breakdown some astrology for you.
I'm passionate about relationships, the earth, astrology, creating, holistic beauty, and authenticity. Hair shouldn't be just something you have to deal with, but a reflection of who you are and how you want to feel. Your hair can be an insight to your health and well being. I would love the opportunity to enhance your beauty in a way that makes you feel alive and gorgeous and assist you in finding balance and direction.
Scalp Care has become another passion of mine and how it can give us insight into what is going on with the rest of our body. Fusing energetics, massage, and scalp care products together has brought another level of joy to my career.
Lived in, lower maintenance color and and cuts is my speciality. I enjoy playing with tones, like mixing paint colors. The energy side of things comes as a bonus for both of us. I’m excited to share more with you.
I have a salon studio suite that I own inside of Sola Studio Salons. I work for myself and by myself. It’s been a highlight of my career and I couldn’t be more proud to serve my community creatively and passionately.
Creating art through hair has brought so many incredible people into my life. Whether it’s a quick bang trim, or a four hour blonding session, it is very important to me to build a relationship and connection with the people that sit in my chair.
I appreciate education and will give my clients the knowledge to recreate the looks I give. I hold space for people to be themselves without judgement. Most of all, I want everyone to leave my chair feeling relaxed and balanced, and knowing that they are beautiful.
